Now that tax season is in full swing, you might be wondering Where’s My
Refund? You are able to check your refund status at IRS.gov, but you
will need some information before you go looking for your refund.
1.) When should you check your refund status?
You should not check any earlier than 24 hours after your return
has been accepted by the IRS if you e-file. This could take up to
two days, but is typically within 24 hours after filing.
You should check not earlier than 4 weeks after mailing if you
filed by way of the US Postal Service.
2.) What will you need when checking your refund status?
You will need the Social Security Number of the first person listed
on your tax return.
You will need to know your filing status, and
You will need to know your EXACT refund amount!
3.) How do you check your refund status?
On the internet, go to www.irs.gov,
On the right side of the home page, click on Where’s My Refund,
On the next page, about one third of the way down on the right hand
side you will see, again, the Where’s My Refund statement, click
there and follow the directions.
